Membership
Shir Hatzafon is open to anyone who identifies with the Progressive Jewish religious line of the congregation.
Shir Hatzafon operates with two membership categories. Membership of Shir Hatzafon is open for people aged 18 and above. Application for membership must be submitted to the Board for approval.
An application must include detailed contact information, a personal description of one's Jewish connection and the reason for applying for membership of Shir Hatzafon. All information is handled in strictest confidence.
The annual membership subscription for Shir Hatzafon are determined at the Annual General Meeting. The subscription for 2012 is DKK 3,000.
Membership Categories
Shir Hatzafon operates with two membership categories:
- Full membership
- Associate membership
Full membership is open for individuals, who are recognized as Jews as specified in the Shir Hatzafon by-laws.
Shir Hatzafon recognizes people as being Jewish if they have at least one Jewish parent, have been brought up in a Jewish environment and manner, and have not been member of a non-Jewish faith. Full membership involves all religious rights, voting rights at the AGM and eligibility for the Board.
Associate membership is open to non-Jews, for example spouses and partners of Jewish members of Shir Hatzafon, persons enrolled in the Shir Hatzafon conversion programme, and those who otherwise feel connected to Judaism and who agree with the Shir Hatzafon mission statement. Associate members are entitled to vote at the AGM.
